CALLING ALL KEIKI CULINARY SUPERSTARS!

The Hawaii Gas Presents Localicious® Recipe Contest is a fun cooking competition for kids to show off their talents in the kitchen and inspire them to support local farmers and producers! All participants will be asked to submit an original recipe of a school lunch meal they would like to see in their school cafeteria. A culinary judge will review the recipes to select the top three (3) submissions from two grade categories: Grades 4-8 and 9-12.

Entries can be submitted through the HFWF online submission form between August 21 – September 22, 2023.

The top three finalists in each grade category will be invited to prepare their dish LIVE in front of an audience, and present their dish for tasting and scoring by three judges at the Hawaii Food & Wine Festival’s Hawaii Gas Presents Localicious® Recipe Contest Cookoff event in Honolulu, Hawaii. Cash scholarships will be awarded for first, second and third place winners in grades 9-12 and cash gift cards will be awarded to first, second and third place winners in grades 4-8. Winners will be announced at the live Cookoff event on October 29, 2023 at Bishop Museum.

HEAR FROM PAST FINALISTS:

“My fondest memory is all of the amazing people that I met on the competiton day. Adam Richman was the emcee for the event, and I was able to reconnect with him a few years later when I was asked to judge the 2018 Localicious Recipe Contest.”

Sophia Stark

2015 Finalist

“Don’t put too much pressure on yourself. Find your stride in the competion and focus. Cook what you think is ono, not what you think is fancy or impressive.”

Jonah Sahagun

2022 Finalist

“The contest has impacted my culinary journey and life and it made me more interested in cooking, like learning techniques and recipes. I learned some information and tips when at the contest so I have been making more dishes to try out and come up with my own.”

Kimani Porlas
