Cinzia & Fabiana Sommariva
Sommariva Winery - Veneto, Italy
Sommariva is a family-run winery set in the heart of the Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco hills, a land of rolling vineyards and a centuries-old winemaking tradition. This region, located between Venice and the Dolomites, was recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2019, leading to a significant increase in visitors from all over the world.
The history of Sommariva began in the 1970s, when Caterino Sommariva purchased his first four hectares in the area. Coming from a family of growers in the plain, he believed his work would give him greater satisfaction on the hills.
A decisive turning point came in the 1990s, when his daughter Cinzia decided to bring a new vision to her father’s work. After graduating as an accountant, she decided, together with her father, to build the winery in San Pietro di Feletto. In the early years she was deeply involved in every aspect of the production from manual work and managing machinery to building the brand and developing new markets. It was a challenging but rewarding journey that required determination, hard work and vision. Today the estate covers 54 hectares, 40 of which within the Conegliano Valdobbiadene DOCG appellation, and is still strongly guided by family values and love for the territory, with Cinzia’s daughter, Fabiana, who is preparing to join the business
