World’s Greatest Wine Discoveries: South America and, believe it or not, China

Event Date:

Nov. 9, 2024

Event Time:

9:00 A.M.-10:30 A.M.

Location:

Halekulani

In the minds of the most knowledgeable and informed wine aficionados, it is easy to understand why a conversation about the greatest wines of the world will always begin with the Old World (Europe). After all, the wines from Bordeaux’s finest estates and the most heralded Domaine’s from Burgundy will always be placed on a pedestal.

That being said, however, there are now a few producers in the New World (everywhere else but Europe) that are creating wines every bit as compelling—and as highly revered and rated on the 100-point scale. Without question, these wines now warrant our full attention!

Please join our panel of Master Sommeliers led by Andy Myers, Christopher Ramelb, and David Yoshida, as we compare, experience, discover, and awaken our senses through a guided tasting of nine different wines—each of which has received ratings of 95 to 100 points from the most influential wine critics in the business.

Among the wines that will be included in the tasting are:

  • Seña, Red Blend Valle de Aconcagua 2021 from Chile (Rated a perfect 100 pts. by James Suckling)
  • Cheval des Andes, Mendoza, Argentina 2019 from Argentina (Rated 98 pts. by Robert Parker)
  • Zuccardi, Finca Canal Uco, Mendoza, Argentina 2020 (Rated 99 pts. by James Suckling and 96 pts. by Robert Parker)
  • Ao Yun, Himalayas at the foot of the sacred Meiji Mountain, China 2020 (Rated 99 pts. By James Suckling and 96 pts. by Robert Parker)
