MW Restaurant Chefs & Chuck Furuya lead Cook & Drink Along with #HFWF presented by Armstrong Produce
HONOLULU, HI (September 12, 2020) – Hawaii Food & Wine Festival (HFWF) launches ticket sales today for its next virtual Armstrong Produce Presents Cook & Drink Along with #HFWF on Thursday, October 1, 2020 at 5:30 p.m. HST.
Seafood Boil with Chefs Michelle & Wade and Chuck Furuya, M.S., will be a live, interactive cooking class on Zoom with the celebrity chefs behind MW Restaurant, Michelle Karr-Ueoka and Hawaiian Airlines Featured Chef Wade Ueoka. The chef duo will teach viewers the step-by-step process to prepare a southern-style seafood and sausage boil with fresh ingredients: Kona lobster, Kauai shrimp, clams, potatoes, corn, sausage, carrots and more.
Hawaiian Airlines Master Sommelier Chuck Furuya will curate and lead a special tasting with Ancient Peaks Shell Seeker Chardonnay, made exclusively for Hawaiian Airlines First Class menu, for the Drink Along portion. Then, the class will end with a live audience Q&A.
Attendees on Oahu can participate by purchasing special meal kit for two with the prepped ingredients for pick up from MW Restaurant, day-of the event. The kit includes ahi poke nachos as the pupu, along with the boil ingredients: one lobster, six shrimp, one pound of clams, sausage and more. The seafood boil kit can be purchased with or without a bottle of Ancient Peaks Shell Seeker Chardonnay.
Those who wish to join the event without the meal kit and wine, can register for the virtual class ticket for $25, inclusive of taxes and fees. A list of ingredients will be shared with these ticket holders to purchase ahead of time and participate live.
Quantities are limited. Proceeds will benefit the Kokua Ag & Culinary Fund, which supports the agricultural, culinary and hospitality industries that have been affected by COVID-19 in Hawaii.
“The Cook & Drink Along with #HFWF series is a way for us to bring the HFWF culinary experience into people’s homes during COVID-19” said Denise Yamaguchi, CEO of Hawaii Food & Wine Festival. “We are able to still give back to those in food and hospitality that are struggling in the pandemic, while creating bringing people together through food.”
As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, HFWF is producing a bi-weekly virtual event series in two different formats to precede the tentative fall HFWF20 event schedule: Cook & Drink Along with #HFWF and Talk Story & Pau Hana with #HFWF events with a moderated panel discussion followed by local music entertainment. Both virtual events include a cocktail, wine or beer pairing.
Tickets to Seafood Boil with Chefs Michelle & Wade and Chuck Furuya, M.S., start at $135 with the kit for two people, inclusive of taxes and fees, available at www.HFWF.me.
