
Wendy F. Hensel

Wendy F. Hensel, a champion for inclusivity and innovation in higher education, is deeply engaged in using analytics and artificial intelligence to improve student outcomes, modernize curricula, and increase university efficiencies. Hensel began her presidency at the University of Hawaii on January 1, 2025. Previously, she served as Executive Vice Chancellor and University Provost at The City University of New York (CUNY), where she improved student success, expanded virtual degree programs, and aligned academic offerings with workforce demands.
With over two decades at Georgia State University (GSU) as Dean of the College of Law and Provost, Hensel is a noted legal scholar in disability law, policy, and ethics. Passionate about advancing opportunities for individuals with disabilities, she serves on the board of Integrate, which promotes inclusive employment for professionals with autism. Wendy F. Hensel earned a bachelor’s degree in American public affairs from Michigan State University as a Harry S. Truman Scholar and law degree cum laude from Harvard Law School.
