
Tom Calame
Area General Manager & Managing Director, Kyo-ya Hotels & Resorts Hawaii Marriott International - Honolulu, HI
With more than 30 years of global hospitality experience, career hotelier Tom Calame currently serves as the Area General Manager and Managing Director for Kyo-ya Hotels & Resorts in Hawaii. In this role, he oversees a prestigious portfolio of some of the islands’ most iconic, historic resorts, including the first hotel built in Waikiki and Kaanapali, Maui.
Originally from the Netherlands, Calame has built a distinguished career with Marriott International, holding executive positions across international markets such as Aruba, Peru, Mexico, and the Netherlands. Calame is a two-time recipient of Marriott’s General Manager of the Year award, first at the JW Marriott Hotel Lima in Peru, and again at the Renaissance Amsterdam Hotel. He also played a key role in the successful opening of the JW Marriott Cancun Resort & Spa in Mexico.
Since arriving in the islands, Calame’s executive leadership has been vital to business and non-profit community organizations such as Make-A-Wish Hawaii, the Honolulu Japanese Chamber of Commerce, Hawaii Lodging & Tourism Association, Scouting America: Aloha Council (formerly Boy Scouts of America), Hawaii Business Roundtable, Hawaii Green Grown and the Hotel Owners Round Table.
