Mick Cameron

Louis Latour - Burgundy, France

Mick Cameron is a fine wine professional and educator with 30 years of experience in the fine wine industry in northern CA. After having lived for over a decade in France, Mick returned to San Francisco in 1995 and got his start in the wine trade at one of the premier wine retailers in the state, The Wine Club San Francisco, where he worked from 1996 to 1999 and was afforded the opportunity to taste the most sought-after wines in the world.

While at the Wine Club, he participated in peer-driven tasting groups and created a consumer wine and food pairing series – French Toast – showcasing wines from France along with classic French food pairings. He subsequently worked as a fine wine sales consultant in San Francisco for Wine Warehouse , calling on some of the top restaurants in the country, notably Farallon, Plumpjack’s, Boulevard, Eos, Scala’s, and many more.

In 2000, he accepted the position of District Manager in the Bay Area for the Louis Roederer champagne group, Maisons, Marques & Domaines, and after ten years, decided to pursue an independent role as a wine educator and writer. Mick acquired two credentials at this juncture, Certified Specialist of Wine and French Wine Scholar, and began teaching the latter with Master Sommelier David Glancy at the SF Wine School.

He simultaneously created a website to promote his wine writing and educational offerings: www.SlaveToTheGrape.com . This website is rich with articles profiling great wine personalities and wine regions worldwide. For the past 11 years, he has occupied the role of the Western Regional Sales Manager for the prestigious, 12th-generation Louis Latour family in Burgundy.
