Hyun Kim’s culinary journey began in her hometown of Busan, Korea, where she developed a profound appreciation for Korean cuisine. Exposed to a diverse array of foods from a young age, she cultivated a lifelong passion for cooking. Starting her culinary career at the tender age of 16, she transitioned from the dining room to the kitchen, honing her skills under the tutelage of acclaimed Chef Park by the time she was 18.

Driven by a thirst for knowledge and culinary excellence, Kim pursued further education in Korean, Japanese, and International cuisines in Korea before embarking on a new chapter in Honolulu. There, she enrolled in the Culinary Arts program at Kapiolani Community College, further expanding her culinary repertoire.

Kim’s dedication to her craft led her to seek additional training and experience at esteemed establishments such as Chef Mavro, 53 by the Sea, Morimoto, Gokoku Sushi, Vintage Cave, and Trump International Hotel. Armed with a strong foundation in the culinary arts, she ventured into entrepreneurship, opening the first O’Kims in 2016.

Driven by a commitment to showcasing the rich flavors and traditions of Korean cuisine, Hyun Kim continues to make her mark in the culinary world, blending her heritage with her passion for cooking to create memorable dining experiences.
