The Cheese Shop is a cornucopia filled with delicious gourmet products, hundreds of wines, Champagnes, and spirits from around the world. Behind the counter Kent Torrey and his amiable staff will be slicing samples from over 200 different cheeses, passing along wonderful insights about a cheese’s history/origin, or how that cheese can be used in intricate dishes. Tips will be given on how to throw a great wine & cheese tasting party or how to pack the perfect, romantic picnic to enjoy while watching a magnificent Carmel beach sunset. And yes, you will inevitably hear Torrey tell a cheesy joke, or two, three, or more!!

Torrey & his staff have been fortunate enough to assist the public and professional trade through various media sources, publications, wine and food festivals, as well as being featured on the Travel Channel worldwide as a “Must See Destination” and showcased on the Food Network for their world famous pesto. Festival highlights include: Masters of Food & Wine, World of Pinot Noir, Kapalua Wine & Food Festival, Blackberry Farm Epicurean Events, Hospice du Rhône, Pebble Beach Food & Wine, Los Angeles Food & Wine, Hawaii Food & Wine, Big Sur Food & Wine, Relais & Châteaux Gourmet Carmel, Chef Michael Mina’s Levi Stadium Tailgate, Big Sky Vine & Dine, etc.

Being from the state of Hawaii, Kent Torrey has infused the “ohana” spirit into this family-oriented business, and on Memorial Day, 2022 The Cheese Shop will be celebrating its 49th year of eating and drinking! His mantra: “Eat Cheese, Drink Wine, Live Life Happy!!”
