Born in Hilo and raised in Hana, dual proximity have always been part of her life equation. She has been the Executive Director of Ala Kukui for the past 10 years, a non-profit community organization/retreat center. Through their Hana Ku Progam involving Hana families and some of Hawaiiʻs most talented chefs, they have established Ala Kukui as Mauiʻs best kept secret where the humble foundations of food, family and tradition are elevated through exchange of place-based generational knowledge and an acumen in culinary craft. Kaui Kanakaoleʻs intimate knowledge of Hanaʻs community and Hawaiian culture, as well as the platform of Ala Kukuiʻs beautiful 12 acre property and retreat facilities have afforded her a unique opportunity to proximate the duality of vaired people and places into a impactful and resonant relationships.
