Vice President of Operations, Mauna Kea Resort - Kamuela, HI
As Vice President of Operations, Craig Anderson brings over 40 years of hospitality experience and serves as the visionary leader behind the extensive operations of Mauna Kea Resort, which includes the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel, The Westin Hapuna Beach Resort, Mauna Kea Residences and Mauna Kea Resort Services. Before joining Mauna Kea Resort, Craig served as General Manager of the Moana Surfrider, a Westin Resort & Spa in Waikiki. During his tenure, he was known for enhancing guest experiences and driving operational excellence. Prior to Waikiki, he led The Westin Maui Resort & Spa for a decade and served on the global Westin brand GM advisory council. Craig began the Hawaii chapter of his career as General Manager of the Princeville Hotel on Kauai in 1999. A graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, Craig began his career as a chef working in independent restaurants and hotels where he honed his skills in the culinary arts, financial acumen, and team leadership.
Under Craig’s direction, Mauna Kea Resort’s community enrichment and conservation programs thrive. His vision for a more sustainable Hawaii encompasses several key initiatives. Partnering with county and industry leaders Mauna Kea Resort hosted a local AG summit connecting chefs, growers, distributors and local government to identify and overcome barriers to elevating local agriculture on Hawaii Island. A staunch supporter of enhancing the development, education and opportunities for Hawaiʻi’s youth, Craig serves as a board member of ClimbHI and Koi Pond Bridges. Mauna Kea Resort collaborates with Hawaii Land Trust to preserve Hawaiian cultural sites and supports The Nature Conservancy in their work in ocean sustainability and reef preservation.
Craig plays a pivotal role in leading the Prince Resorts Hawaii mentorship program across three properties and also serves as President of the Kohala Coast Resort Association.
