Atsushi Suzuki
The Bellwood - Tokyo, Japan
Atsushi Suzuki began his bartending journey by serving shots at a local bar in downtown Tokyo, Katsushika Kanamachi, at the tender age of 18. After 6 years of experience under his belt, Suzuki left Tokyo to enter a new chapter in his mixology career: New York. This life-changing decision to relocate to The Big Apple served as a pivotal milestone, propelling him to new heights of expertise. Within several years of moving, Suzuki served drinks at the highly acclaimed pioneer in the craft cocktail movement, Angel’s Share. He further enriched his craft by contributing his talents to top-tier venues in London and Toronto until he was headhunted in 2016 to become the Head Bartender at Shanghai’s Speak Low. Within just one year of its opening, Suzuki guided Speak Low to achieve numerous accomplishments, and he himself was crowned the 2017 Chivas Masters World Champion.
Suzuki returned to Tokyo in 2018 as the Group Manager for SG Group and dedicated seven years to ensure that guests received an exceptional experience. Alongside this position, Suzuki unveiled his first bar in Shibuya in June 2020: The Bellwood. Within 4 years of its opening, The Bellwood claimed the 89th spot in the 2024 World’s 50 Best Bars and secured the 34th in Asia’s 50 Best Bars List; however, his bartending journey does not end here.
Alongside his dedicated team, Suzuki continues to transcend perfected classics at his three establishments: The Bellwood, BELLSUSHI, and the BW CAVE. Whether at one of his venues experimenting with playful, gastronomical creations, or showcasing his craft as a guest bartender or, delivering seminars at other top bars in the world, Atsushi Suzuki is committed to pushing the boundaries of his craftsmanship and remains at the forefront of innovation in mixology.
