Alana Kobayashi Pakkala

CEO & Partner, Kobayashi Group - Honolulu, HI

Alana Kobayashi Pakkala is CEO and Partner at Kobayashi Group, a family-owned real estate development company based in Hawai‘i. Kobayashi Group’s portfolio includes Kukio Golf & Beach Club, Hyatt Andaz Maui at Wailea, Four Seasons Resort Hualalai, Park Lane Ala Moana, Hokua, Capitol Place, and ONE Ala Moana, as well as the revitalization of the Kaimana Beach Hotel and Royal Lahaina Resort. The company has also contributed to important civic and institutional projects, including the University of Hawaii Cancer Research Center.

With more than 25 years of experience, Alana continues the company’s commitment to best-in class development, extending its work in both luxury and affordable housing while introducing new approaches to sustainability. Her leadership includes Hale Kalele, an affordable rental housing community with supportive services for youth, and Parkway Village in Kapolei, a community offering rental housing together with on-site preschools and a Freight Farm — the first of its kind in an affordable housing community in Hawaii.

Alana is also overseeing two major projects now under construction in Honolulu: Alia and Kuilei Place. Both feature large-scale greywater reuse systems projected to save nearly 20 million gallons of Hawaii’s precious water each year, along with the use of low-carbon concrete to help cut carbon emissions and reduce the overall footprint.

Born and raised in Honolulu, Alana is a graduate of Punahou School and Georgetown University. She currently serves on the Parkway Village Preschool Governing Board and has also held leadership roles with Hawaiian Electric, Kapiolani Medical Center for Women and Children, Oahu Transit Services, and the City’s Community Development Block Grant Committee.
