HashiLife.com explores Hawaii’s food and culture, kicking off with a Talk Story & Pau Hana event series

HONOLULU, HI (August 12, 2020) – Hawaii Food & Wine Festival (HFWF) today announces the launch of its digital content platform, www.HashiLife.com, with a virtual event series: Talk Story & Pau Hana with #HFWF.

The digital platform will explore all things food and culture in Hawaii, producing original written and video content, recipes from award-winning chefs and mixologists from around the globe, and compelling interviews with not only HFWF talent, but also experts and leaders in the local Hawaii community and beyond.

In collaboration with the Hashi launch, tickets are now on sale for the first-ever Hawaii Food & Wine Festival virtual event, Talk Story & Pau Hana with #HFWF. The first iteration will feature renowned chefs from around the country joining virtually for COVID Conversations via Zoom on Thursday, August 20, 2020, at 4 p.m. HST. The panelists will engage in candid conversations about their real experiences, struggles, predictions and hopes as they all navigate their way through the COVID-19 pandemic. Talk Story & Pau Hana start with a moderated conversation with each of the chefs and a Q&A session with the viewers. The event will also feature a local pau hana with a musical guest in partnership with Outrigger Resorts’ Kani Ka Pila Music Jam with Bobby Moderow Jr., plus a virtual wine tasting curated and led by JUSTIN Winery. Event registration and access will be available via Zoom for $10 with all proceeds benefiting the featured musician and the Kokua Ag & Culinary Fund, which supports the agricultural, culinary and hospitality industries in Hawaii.

“The Hashi platform was meant to compliment the Hawaii Food & Wine Festival, featuring the stories behind the many chefs, winemakers, mixologists and others who come together year after year to make our event possible,” said Denise Yamaguchi, CEO of Hawaii Food & Wine Festival. “With COVID-19, our chef and restaurant communities are fighting for their survival, and we hope that this first Talk Story will shed some light on the struggles the restaurant industry in Hawaiʻi and across our nation is facing, and how each of us may be able to help.”

The panelists include the following chefs/restauranteurs, with more to be announced.

  • Ravi Kapur, Liholiho Yacht Club
  • Michelle Karr-Ueoka, MW Restaurant
  • Stephan Pyles, Stephan Pyles Concepts
  • Nancy Silverton, Mozza Restaurant Group
  • Ming Tsai, Blue Dragon
