Tets Yamazaki has been recently appointed as General Manager of Sheraton Waikiki Resort starting in April 2026. Prior to this role he served as general manager of the 508-room Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa, situated at the prime expanse of Kaanapali Beach where Puu Kekaa meets the Pacific, for more than twelve years, with more than thirty years in the hospitality industry overall in roles for Marriott International, Kyo-ya Hotels & Resorts, and Starwood Hotels & Resorts properties throughout Hawaii.

For his tremendous leadership as general manager of Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa, Yamazaki was recently named 2024 General Manager of the Year, Resort Property, by The American Hotel & Lodging Association (AHLA) as well as being awarded Marriott International’s 2024 Stephen Garff Marriott Award of Excellence for Culture, recognizing a Business Council, property or team for excellence in demonstrating the timeless core values of Marriott’s company culture. Yamazaki was selected on behalf of Business Council Hawaii, who is honored for preserving Marriott’s rich heritage, particularly in the aftermath of the 2023 Lahaina wildfires. He was also an honoree in Pacific Business News’ 2024 Pineapple Awards, recognizing leaders in Hawaii’s hospitality sector for achievements in presenting an authentic Hawaii visitor experience and commitment to their community.

Yamazaki has dedicated more than 25 years of his career working for Kyo-ya Hotels & Resorts, the steward of six historical hotel and resort properties in Hawaii and California, including The Royal Hawaiian, The Moana Surfrider, Sheraton Waikiki, Sheraton Princess Kaiulani, Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa and the Palace Hotel in San Francisco. Prior to Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa, Yamazaki served as general manager at Sheraton Kona Resort & Spa at Keauhou Bay. He joined Starwood Hotels & Resorts in 1997, holding an array of leadership roles including assistant hotel manager for The Royal Hawaiian, and front office manager, director of property operations, and hotel manager for Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa.

Originally from Japan, Yamazaki holds a bachelor’s degree in international relations and political science from Sophia University in Tokyo, and a master’s degree in hotel management from the School of Travel Industry Management at University of Hawaii at Manoa.

He now raises his family in Maui and is involved in many community causes, including serving on the Board of Directors for Maui Hotel & Lodging Association and Kaanapali Beach Resort Association, acting as past chairman of the Maui County Charity Walk, and service initiatives through organizations including Relay for Life, Charity Walk, Maui Humane Society, Treecovery Hawaii and more.
