As the Executive Chef at Humble Market Kitchin by Roy Yamaguchi, Chef Matt Dela Cruz uses the finest ingredients to bring guests Internationally Influenced, Hawaii Inspired dishes with a local twist.  Humble Market Kitchin won Hawai’i Magazine’s Best New Restaurant – Maui award under his leadership.

Prior to joining the opening team at Humble Market Kitchin, Dela Cruz worked at Roy’s Poipu Bar & Grill for 11 years and served as the Executive Chef for five years.  He honed his skills while working in kitchens throughout Hawaii including a role as catering chef with chef-instructor Mark Oyama of Contemporary Flavors Catering (formerly pastry chef at Alan Wong’s Restaurant) .

Dela Cruz attributes his creative approach and knack for flavors to his maternal and paternal grandmothers who were cooks by profession and of Filipino & Japanese descent.  “Nothing brought my grandmothers more joy than preparing meals for loved ones,” says Dela Cruz.  “They helped shape who I am.  My fondest childhood memories are so strong – that is reflected in my passion for the art of food and hospitality.  I hope I’m making them proud.”
