Born into his family’s Japanese restaurant in Canada, Makoto Ono has been immersed in the world of food and culture since childhood.

Discovering that cooking offered a gateway to explore the diverse flavors of the world, Ono refined his culinary expertise in prestigious kitchens across London, Beijing, Hong Kong, and Vancouver, ultimately finding his culinary home on the picturesque island of Oahu.

Makoto Ono wholeheartedly embraces contemporary Hawaiian Cuisine, as evidenced by his locally inspired creations showcased at Arden Waikiki restaurant.
