Five events featuring Hawai‘i’s leading culinary and mixology talent at Foodland venues

HONOLULU, HI (July 13, 2021)—Hawaii Food & Wine Festival (HFWF), in partnership with Foodland Super Market, Ltd., announces Summer Nights with Foodland, a series of culinary experiences showcasing top local talent and menus inspired by homegrown ingredients. Guests are invited to enjoy five chef- and mixologist-driven events across two weekends in August 2021. Tickets are on sale today and the exciting lineup features a roster of Hawaii’s celebrated chefs and mixology masters as well as the best locally sourced product the islands have to offer.

From August 12-14 and 20-21, 2021, attendees can savor the very best of summer with five special collaborative events including:  

OODLES OF NOODLES                                                                                               Chef & Spirit-Paired Dinner                                                                               Thursday, August 12, 2021                                                                                            Pau Hana Bar, Foodland Farms Pearl City.                                                      Description: Slurp. Slurp. It’s pau hana time and we can’t think of a better way to end the day than a steaming bowl of noodles at Pau Hana Bar, Foodland Farms Pearl City. Hawaii Food & Wine Festival co-founder and celebrated chef, Roy Yamaguchi, joins forces with Pau Hana Bar’s John Neff and Rebekah DeCosta for a tribute to one of the oldest dishes in the world and a universal comfort food. Discover the versatility and delicious elegance of this seemingly simple food, which can be served hot, cold fried or in broth, over four courses. Each dish is paired with handcrafted cocktails featuring iichiko, a Honkaku Shochu, to deliver a culinary combination sure to end any day just right. Plus, a special dessert from Foodland Pastry Chef Brian Sung.

Yes, please! You won’t want to miss the fun as Chef Mark “Gooch” Noguchi of Pili Group and Chef Reid Matsumura of Redfish Poke Bar by Foodland throw it back to honor our local culinary roots with this multi-course dinner exploring the bounty of Hawaii’s oceans and lands. Discover the tasty nuances of taro—a Hawaiian staple—alongside mind-blowing poke creations showcasing the islands’ freshest catches and finest homegrown ingredients. Plus, these dishes will be paired with a refreshing beer selection from Anheuser-Busch and dessert by Foodland Pastry Chef Brian Sung.

MODERN PLANTATION FEAST                                                                               Farm-to-Table Dinner                                                                                           Saturday, August 14, 2021                                                                                          Mahiai Table at Foodland Farms Ka Makana Alii                                               Description: Stay rooted in Hawaii’s plantation heritage with this multi-course event, showcasing the agricultural abundance and local purveyors of our islands. In this true farm-to-fork event, celebrated local Chef Ed Kenney and Mahiai Table’s Chef Rebekah DeCosta take you on a four-course expedition through the Islands’ gardens, farms and fisheries. A culinary journey from Hawaii’s fertile loi to its rich shrimp ponds, this event is an opportunity to appreciate (and savor) dishes inspired by seasonal ingredients grown and harvested right here at home. Each course is accompanied by a pairing of specialty cocktails, and to top it all off, the final course features a special dessert from Foodland Pastry Chef Brian Sung.

Blending the signature elegance of French cuisine and seasonal, fresh ingredients grown in Hawaii, executive chef/owner of M by Chef Mavro Jeremy Shigekane and et al.’s Chef Brian Nagai celebrate and showcase what we love about these uniquely different, but special coastal, culinary destinations. This unforgettable gastronomic experience is enhanced by a pairing of wines, hand-selected by Foodland’s Advanced Sommelier Marvin Chang and Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits Hawaii on this unforgettable gastronomic journey.

It’s a secret … and now you’re in the know. Join us for this exclusive first look at ELEVEN, a soon-to-open cocktail bar and lounge tucked away in Foodland Farms Ala Moana. Featuring savvy sips by Pint & Jigger’s mixologist/owner Dave Newman and Foodland corporate mixologist Matt Rosskopf, this public preview event puts premium spirits and innovation at the forefront while artfully complementing each libation with a selection of small-plate delicacies inspired by the best ingredients Foodland Farms has to offer.
