James Domingo, a Maui native, ascended to the role of executive chef at Hula Grill Kaanapali, marking a remarkable culinary journey deeply rooted in his Hawaiian upbringing. Starting as a lunch line cook at Merriman’s Bamboo Bistro, Domingo climbed the culinary ladder, serving as sous chef at Leilani’s on the Beach and Hula Grill before becoming chef at Kimo’s Restaurant. His educational path led him from Maui High to earning a liberal arts degree at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, enriching his culinary expertise with a broader perspective.

Throughout his journey, Domingo remains anchored by his faith and gratitude, attributing his success to God, his wife Leina, and their four daughters.
