Agnes Henry

Agnès was born in Paris and earned an engineering degree in the agri-food industry with several years of professional experience in the dairy sector in Normandy. She took over the Estate from her mother in 1990. La Tour du Bon has been in her family for 65 years. This 17 hectare estate was a vacation spot in her youth, where she spent time exploring, running, jumping, dreaming, and getting her hands dirty. Subconsciously during this time, she was developing knowledge of the terroir, the rugged vegetation and the Mediterranean climate. She has always been passionate about life, poetry and the arts in general. Making wine was not a career she’d considered, but looking back, she says that this job allows one to beautifully capture a place and a time, in a bottle. By her side her husband Christophe, with whom she grew a family—three children—has always been there, supporting the project.
Agnès says, “I have always worked in partnership with winegrowers who took care of the vineyards and the wines. Then my niece Marguerite came to lend a hand in 2017, especially for the administrative and management part of running a domaine. Building an enthusiastic and competent team has always been an important goal.” The portrait of a winemaker, Agnès believes, “cannot be reduced to their own person, it often goes beyond the description of their vineyard and the wines that come from it. The resilient vine is a plant that inspires respect and pushes us to listen to nature. We try to make balanced and sincere wines with healthy grapes. We mainly produce Bandol in three colors. But, broad horizons call for creativity. In 2001 and 2011, we were able to make a naturally sweet wine made from over-ripe Grenache.” Living fully in harmony and sharing it with others is a goal Angès considers an end in itself.
