Wuxi is a large city in eastern China and its cuisine is part of the pantheon of regional Chinese cuisines. Jian Zhu is a master of Wuxi cooking and serves as a vice chairman of the Wuxi Cuisine Association’s Chef Committee.
Chef Zhu graduated from Wuxi Tourism Business School in 1999 and worked with Chinese culinary master Tang Weicheng in the Wuxi Lakeside Hotel. His outstanding performance there led him to be sent to the Chinese embassies in Germany and Switzerland for seven years. While working abroad, chef Zhu honed his skills in state banquet production and receptions for foreign guests.
As a student of Tang Weicheng’s Wuxi cuisine, chef Zhu carries on the master’s knowledge and technical skills, inheriting the essence of his mentor’s dishes. He has also won the Wuxi City Culinary Competition.
