One of Korea’s best-known celebrity chefs (he has more than 171,000 Instagram followers!), Changwook Chung specializes in French and Japanese cuisines. The owner and chef of Bistro Chaugi has appeared in many reality cooking shows, including Take Good Care of the Fridge.
Chung was born in Yokohama, Japan, and he began his career as a Japanese language interpreter in Korea. He entered the culinary world after moving back to Japan where he became a cook. After returning to Korea, Chung managed a restaurant that had only three tables, allowing him to focus on providing guests with the utmost level of quality and attention.
During his first visit to Hawaii more than ten years ago, Chung instantly fell in love with the culture and hospitality. Since then, he continues to visit the islands several times a year and draws upon his experiences to influence his cuisine. In a partnership with Hawaiian Airlines, he aims to convey his interpretation of the aloha spirit through the company’s inflight meal experience.
