NINTH ANNUAL - OCTOBER 5-27, 2019 - SAVE THE DATE!
Mexico City native Arturo Silva was raised in his hometown by his mother and two older brothers. Being the youngest of three, Silva spent a lot of his time by his mother Josefina’s side in the kitchen. Through the countless days of pressing tortillas, prepping fresh vegetables for salsa and later getting to make his family’s secret recipe mole, he grew an addiction for being in the kitchen.
At the age of seventeen, Silva had his first restaurant job in Arizona, where he lived for seven years. His passion for cooking grew each day and was inspired by watching other chefs adding new flavors and techniques to his repertoire with each new job experience.
Silva’s career as a chef has taken him far, working in kitchens across Boston, New York City, Las Vegas, California and now Honolulu. As the opening Chef of Buho Cocina y Cantina, Silva went back to his roots of Mexican cuisine while incorporating modern techniques, the freshest local ingredients and a lot of love into his cooking which his mother tought his was her secret ingredient to creating delecious food.
