Mark Beaman

MauiWine - Ulupalakua, HI

Mark grew up in a very small rural town in Washington called Touchet, his family raising cattle and growing crops such as wheat and alfalfa. Having been raised with a deep understanding and respect for the delicate world and science of agriculture makes it no surprise his future led him into winemaking.

After earning his bachelor’s degree in geology and environmental studies at Whitman College in Washington, Mark served on the Peace Corps in Tanzania, Africa for two years as an agricultural advisor and agro-forestry volunteer in remote villages. With a craving for adventure and experimentation Mark has always searched out unique challenges and opportunities, which helps explain his move to Maui after 16 years of harvests in Washington and Northern California. His ascend in winemaking started at Columbia Crest Winery in Washington. He continued his growth with Villa Mt. Eden and Conn Creek Winery of Napa, until moving to Mendocino Wine Company eventually becoming the associate winemaker. His last role before moving to Maui was head winemaker at Moniker Wine Estates.

Here in Maui, Mark gets to be on the discovering end of what grape growing is and can be in one of the most unique vineyards of the world. Plus… what better place for a surfer to be than in Maui!
