Sven J Ullrich is the Executive Chef at the Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort and Spa. Prior to his current role at the Hyatt Waikiki, Chef Ullrich was the Executive Chef at the Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay, the Executive Chef at the Park Hyatt Hamburg in Germany, Chef de Cuisine-Tournant at the Grand Hyatt Melbourne in Australia, and Chef de Cuisine at Hyatt Regency Sanctuary Cove in Australia. He has traveled all over the world cooking in some of Hyatt’s top rated hotels. His experience with seafood and culturally authentic cuisine made him the perfect fit for Shor American Seafood Grill, Japengo Restaurant, and Swim Lounge.
In part, what attracted Sven to come to Hawaii was the wealth of flavors not available anywhere else in the world. Last year, Chef Ullrich was one of only a dozen Hyatt chefs selected to participate in the prestigious culinary event, Hyatt Global Taste Experience. The occasion, which marked the opening of the Grand Hyatt at New York Central Station, was a culinary highlight showcasing Hyatt’s best of the best, for the luxury hotel chain. He has won the 2009 Chef of the Year for the Hyatt Hotels and Resorts.
