As Executive Chef of The MODERN Honolulu since Fall 2011, Toner oversees the culinary aspect of Oahu’s cutting-edge property. Chef Toner brings a five-star experience and a passion for excellence to the lifestyle hotel. Born and raised in Trenton, New Jersey, Chef Toner has been fascinated by the culinary world. Prior to The MODERN Honolulu, Scott was part of the opening team for The Grand Hyatt Wailea. From there, he furthered his career with Ritz Cartlon Kapalua. In 2010, Chef Toner was part of the team that launched the new EDITION brand, opening their first property in 2011, The Waikiki EDITION.
Known for incorporating Hawai‘i’s diverse culinary traditions and utilizing fresh local produce to create extraordinary menus, Chef Toner thrives on new and exciting challenges. At THE MODERN HONOLULU, a refreshingly new hospitality concept is matched by modern menu offerings featuring fresh and organic items. Chef Toner oversees the culinary selections at the property’s cosmopolitan lobby and poolside bars and plays a hands-on role in customizing menus for special events and private celebrations. Chef Toner is a featured host chef at the annual Hawai‘i Food & Wine Festival.
